Student Data Privacy Listing

Bolton Public Schools is committed to protecting the privacy of student data.

Bolton Public Schools operates in accordance with the Connecticut Student Data Privacy Act (CT PA 16-189), Conn. Gen. Stat. § 10-234aa, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Among other specifications, these regulations govern what information we retain, how we store it, how we use it, and who has access to it.

Uses of student data include informing instructional practice, improving the learning experience, supporting accreditation processes, and meeting obligations for required reporting to state or federal authorities. In some cases, this data is not stored in district.

In all cases where data is stored outside the district, the service provider must comply with applicable regulations. Except in limited circumstances, a student privacy agreement indicating the service provider understands the applicable regulations is necessary.

All staff must submit a Software Request Form.

Parents may request deletion or correction of student data by contacting the school.
